For our second Woodford Reserve pick, we flew to the source — selecting two single barrels at the distillery, then blending them ourselves on-site. Same mash bill and ABV as Batch One, but this is a completely different animal: darker, denser, and made for drinkers who like their bourbon with some weight behind it.
From the first pour, the nose leans rich and indulgent — think dark caramel, vanilla fudge, and the kind of toasted oak that only comes with proper barrel time. The palate layers in dried fruit, roasted nuts, and a slow-building sweetness that never tips into syrupy. Everything’s in balance. Everything earned.
It’s a whiskey built for sipping neat, but it doesn’t shy away from a proper cocktail either. Stir it down into an old fashioned and you’ll get structure, depth, and a long, satisfying finish that doesn’t quit.
If Batch One was bright and high-toned — red fruit and soft vanilla — this is its moodier cousin. Built on the same bones, but aged into something deeper.
