Sourced from 13 clones from the Lampia, Michet, Rosè, Ciavannescia & Bolla biotypes, the 2019 Nebbiolo comes from warm growing season typical of the Heathcote region. These unique plantings were picked separately and fermented in 5 batches ensuring ripe tannins and bright acidity whilst maintaining the unique profile of each biotype, before seeing 45 days of post-ferment maceration & two years of barrel ageing in large format botté in the winery.
TASTING NOTES
With its typical red garnet hue, the 2019 Nebbiolo wears its austere Italian style with pride. Savouriness abounds on the palate with dried herbs, a hint of tar accompanied by aromas of crushed raspberries, cherry cola and dried rose petals. The palate is replete with fresh cherries. Redcurrents and a lick of amaro orange, with pleasingly bitter, well-rounded tannin integrated with the palate. With persistent length, the Nebbiolo cries out for protein to accompany this vibrant wine.
