Utzinger Wines is a small, organically minded estate in Tasmania's Tamar Valley, founded by Matthias and Lauren Utzinger and quickly earning a place among the island's most exciting Pinot Noir producers. The Black Label is their premium, estate-grown expression, drawn from high-density plantings and built for greater depth and complexity.
Made from a selection of clones, hand-picked, partially whole-bunch fermented and basket-pressed to French oak, it is a pure and detailed Pinot Noir. Expect aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, lifted by citrus blossom, spice and a savoury, forest-floor complexity. The palate is silky and flowing, with fine, gossamer tannins and a bright, saline drive.
An elegant, age-worthy cool-climate Pinot, it pairs beautifully with duck, game birds, mushroom dishes and roast pork.
