Turner Stillhouse works out of Rosevears in the Tamar Valley of northern Tasmania, and releases its whisky under the Rosevears name after the place itself. Grain is milled, mashed, distilled and matured entirely on site.
This single malt is made from Tasmanian malted barley and pure Tasmanian water, then drawn from a vatting of the distillery's oldest American oak ex-bourbon casks. That wood pushes the spirit towards vanilla, honey and soft caramel, with baking spice and a light toasted oak note through the finish.
Clean and approachable, and a good way into what the northern end of Tasmania is doing with single malt.
