The distillery started production in 1891 and there are surviving reports from its earliest days that reference a pleasant pineapple aroma that is still present in the spirit to this day. Craigellachie was owned by White Horse Distillers Ltd. for many years and was referred to locally as the White Horse Distillery until relatively recently. It has most recently been under the ownership of John Dewar's & Sons and its aromatic spirit is a highlight of their blends.

Long fermentation brings fruitiness and this tropical, floral note emerges in the mature spirit. Craigellachie is one of the last few distilleries to still use a worm tub to cool the vapours from the stills bringing a rich meatiness to the whisky.


Our selection is a batch of three sherry butts bottled at 10 years and at 51% ABV.

The nose is jammy with fruity notes and a herbaceous freshness. The palate has the sweetness of stewed fruits with warming cinnamon and ginger spices. The finish has more of the stewed fruits and a sprinkling of brown sugar.
