Oude Mûre Tilquin à l'Ancienne is a traditional blackberry lambic from Gueuzerie Tilquin, the blendery founded by Pierre Tilquin in Bierghes in 2009 and the only lambic producer in French-speaking southern Belgium. Tilquin buys freshly brewed lambic from established brewers including Boon, Girardin, Lindemans and Cantillon, then ages and blends it spontaneously in oak.

To make this beer, fresh blackberries (mûre) are macerated with young lambic for several months before the blend is refermented in the bottle. It is unfiltered, unpasteurised and bottle-conditioned in the traditional manner.

The fruit gives it an orange-pink hue and a nose of sour blackberry, citrus, light oak and gentle farmhouse funk. On the palate it is tart and berry-driven, with notes of lemon, wheat and earthy, leathery complexity, finishing dry and crisp.
