Sassicaia is the original Super Tuscan and one of Italy's most iconic wines. Produced by Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, Tuscany, it holds its own unique sub-appellation — Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC — the only single-estate DOC in Italy. The 2022 vintage is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc at 13.5% ABV.
Hand-harvested and fermented with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel, the wine is aged for 20 to 25 months in French oak barriques before further bottle refinement. Deep ruby in colour, the 2022 is rich and concentrated with fresh blackberry, tart cherry, Mediterranean herbs — rosemary, lavender, sage — and gravelly earth. Full-bodied with balanced tannins and a long, structured finish, this is a vintage that will reward several years of patience.
