From the volcanic north face of Mount Etna, Tenuta delle Terre Nere's 'Moganazzi' is a single-contrada Etna Rosso made from 100% Nerello Mascalese planted at 700–750 metres. The parcel sits on jet-black lava soils in the Castiglione di Sicilia commune, producing one of Marc de Grazia's most aromatic and detailed cuvées.
The nose is layered with wild lavender, eucalyptus, ashen rock and exotic spice, opening onto a palate of ripe Marasca cherry, blackcurrant, peach pit and liquorice. A fine thread of volcanic minerality runs through the wine, closing with a signature bitter-orange twist. Aged around 18 months in French oak, it combines primary fruit concentration with edgy, mountain-grown tannins and juicy acidity.
Terre Nere is widely credited with leading Etna's modern renaissance, and Moganazzi remains a benchmark for the elegance and lift Nerello Mascalese can achieve on volcanic terroir.
