Ten Minutes by Tractor Wallis Chardonnay 2025 750ml
Ten Minutes by Tractor was established in 1997 when three neighbouring Mornington Peninsula vineyards, Judd, McCutcheon and Wallis, came together. The name refers to how close they are: about ten minutes apart on a tractor. The estate is based at Main Ridge, the highest and coolest part of the peninsula, and now farms six vineyards in total.
Wallis sits at around 142 metres, lower than the Main Ridge sites but still firmly cool climate, and it has a reputation within the estate for elegance. This is a single vineyard Chardonnay, drawn from the best performing blocks and made to show the site rather than the winemaking.
The style is refined and tightly wound. Grapefruit, white peach and lemon curd are lifted by white flowers and a subtle struck match reduction, with fine oak sitting well in the background and a long, chalky, saline finish. Give it a little air and serve it with shellfish, roast chicken or a soft cheese.
