Ten Minutes by Tractor McCutcheon Chardonnay 2025 750ml
Sitting at around 200 metres on Main Ridge, McCutcheon is one of the original three vineyards behind Ten Minutes by Tractor and the one the estate describes as its most delicate. In Chardonnay that translates into a wine of finesse and drive rather than weight.
The winery came together in 1997 from the neighbouring Judd, McCutcheon and Wallis vineyards, close enough that the trip between them takes about ten minutes on a tractor. Main Ridge is the highest and coolest part of the Mornington Peninsula, and the single vineyard wines are made from the best blocks of each site with the aim of showing exactly how they differ.
The wine is precise and restrained. Lemon, green apple and white peach are framed by white flowers, oyster shell and a whisper of struck flint, with oak kept well in check and a long, taut, mineral finish. Serve it with oysters, scallops or a delicately cooked white fish.
