Prophet's Rock is a Central Otago estate founded in 1999 in the Bendigo sub-region, with winemaker Paul Pujol at the helm since 2005. Pujol's experience in Alsace with Maison Kuentz-Bas brought a strong grounding in aromatic whites, and Riesling has always been central to the estate's range.
The Dry Riesling Central Otago 2022 is sourced from a single parcel on schist soils at the Home Vineyard, a steep glacial terrace in Bendigo at 320-390 metres elevation on ancient soils featuring a unique clay and pedogenic lime structure. The site is certified organic.
Grapes are slowly and gently whole-bunch pressed before a long, slow barrel fermentation, with extended aging on yeast lees prior to bottling. The wine is bright and expressive with a mineral streak, textured citrus fruit, real drive and a generosity of fruit; stylish, complete and built for the cellar.
