Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is one of Burgundy's most admired growers, a producer whose meticulous, precise winemaking has earned a devoted following. While the name is best known for its whites, the reds are crafted with the same attention to detail and sense of place. This wine comes from the vineyard of La Riotte in Monthélie, a village tucked into the hills of the Côte de Beaune.
Made from Pinot Noir, it offers lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, threaded with gentle spice, forest floor and a fine mineral edge. The palate is medium-bodied and elegantly balanced, with lively acidity providing freshness and silky tannins lending a seamless, refined texture.
This is Pinot of quiet detail rather than sheer power, all about texture, poise and a gently persistent finish. Approachable in its youth, it also has the structure to develop well over the medium term.
