Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is one of the most sought-after names in modern white Burgundy, with an estate based in Chassagne-Montrachet and a signature long, cool, reductive élevage in lightly toasted oak. Monthelie is a quietly distinguished village on the Côte de Beaune, tucked between Volnay and Meursault, and its whites offer the kind of mineral cut and value that has become harder to find in the more famous appellations.
The 2023 is finely tuned and tightly woven. Lemon zest, green apple and white peach lead, layered with white flowers, crushed stone and a touch of toasted almond. The palate is medium-bodied, energetic and chalky, with citrus and orchard fruit kept in tension by bright acidity and a saline mineral spine; the finish is long, lifted and gently savoury.
An ideal food wine for fresh seafood, simply prepared white fish, soft cheeses or roast chicken with herbs.
