Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is the joint project of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc Colin) and Caroline Morey, founded in 2001 and now one of the most sought-after addresses in white Burgundy. From a cellar in Chassagne-Montrachet the estate works small parcels across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, all to a single mineral-driven house style.
Les Grandes Ruchottes is a small, prized Premier Cru sitting high on the Chassagne hillside, on stony, exposed limestone soils that yield concentrated, taut and sappy whites. The combination of altitude, slope and shallow rocky earth gives wines that show a lemon-tinged tension and remarkable persistence even in warmer vintages.
The 2023 is precise and chiselled, with a thrilling, lemony attack opening into broader, deeper white-stone fruit on the mid-palate. Whole-cluster pressing, native-yeast fermentation in 350-litre barrels and patient lees ageing without bâtonnage give the wine its seamless texture and trademark Colin-Morey signature.
