Pierre Girardin Chardonnay VDF Noyer 2023 750ml
Pierre Girardin is one of the more exciting young names in French white wine. The son of respected Burgundy vigneron Vincent Girardin, he launched his own label in 2017 and quickly built a reputation for precise, tautly styled Chardonnay. This cuvee sits in his Vin de France range, made from old-vine Chardonnay grown on a small, organically farmed limestone parcel in the Cotes du Jura and vinified in the Burgundian manner he knows so well.
Fermented with wild yeasts and matured in large oak barrels, it is a Chardonnay of energy and detail. Expect ripe orchard fruit and lemon on the nose, edged with a subtle struck-match reduction, while the palate is creamy and generous through the middle yet held taut by bright acidity and a mineral, savoury finish.
A versatile white for the table, at its best with roast chicken, creamy pasta, or richer fish such as roast salmon. Serve lightly chilled in a generous glass.
