Pierre Girardin, son of the respected Burgundy vigneron Vincent Girardin, has become one of France's most talked-about young white winemakers since starting his own label in 2017. His Vin de France Chardonnays showcase a precise, reductive style using fruit from beyond the Burgundy appellations. La Petite Montagne comes from a single old-vine parcel high on the limestone and clay slopes of the Cotes du Jura, farmed organically and picked by hand.
Fermented on wild yeasts in large oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is all about tension and mineral drive. The nose offers flint, fresh citrus and a whisper of oak, leading to a vibrant, layered palate where pronounced minerality, fine texture and lively acidity carry a long, focused finish.
Serve lightly chilled alongside oysters, grilled white fish, or a wedge of hard cheese. A larger white wine glass will draw out its aromatics.
