FWT 585 is part of Penfolds French Winemaking Trials, a project that sees the celebrated Australian house craft wine in Bordeaux using its time-honoured techniques. This red blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from French vineyards, marrying classic Bordeaux structure with the unmistakable Penfolds signature.
It reveals red plum and cassis to the fore, framed by earthy graphite, dried herbs and a hint of brambly undergrowth. The palate is generous through the middle, with concentrated fruit and a supple yet assertive tannin structure that keeps everything balanced and poised.
Presented in a gift box, it makes a considered present and pairs well with roast lamb, beef and hard cheeses.
