Penfolds Bin 389 is one of Australia's most recognisable reds, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz that has been part of the Penfolds range since 1960. Often described as the baby Grange because it is matured in the same hogsheads as the iconic flagship, Bin 389 brings together the structure of Cabernet and the warmth of Shiraz in a wine that has come to define the house style.
This limited edition release pairs the 2023 vintage of Bin 389 with a creative collaboration between Penfolds and Australian artist Troye Sivan, his first project as the house's Creative Partner. Each bottle is hand-wrapped in tissue printed with one of twenty images selected from Troye's personal camera roll, every one capturing a fleeting moment of inspiration. The wine is presented in a collector's gift box, perfect for marking occasions or starting a small library of editions.
In the glass, the 2023 Bin 389 shows the classic Penfolds profile, with aromas of cassis, mulberry, dark plum and chocolate framed by spicy cedar oak. The palate is full bodied and structured, with ripe blackcurrant, dark fruit and warm baking spice carried by firm, fine tannins and a long, savoury finish that rewards another decade or more in the cellar.
