Penfolds Bin 389 is one of Australia's most cherished red wines, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz first made in 1960 by legendary winemaker Max Schubert. Affectionately known as "Baby Grange", it takes part of its character from maturation in the same seasoned barrels that previously held Penfolds Grange.
Sourced from premium South Australian vineyards, the two varieties form a classic partnership: Cabernet lends structure, blackcurrant and elegance, while Shiraz brings plush dark fruit, body and spice. The 2024 shows aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark plum with hints of mocha, cedar and dried herbs.
Full bodied and finely structured, the palate is layered with ripe dark fruit, chocolate and savoury oak, framed by firm yet polished tannins. It finishes long and powerful, rewarding both current enjoyment and extended cellaring.
