Nanclares y Prieto Viticultores is the work of Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto, who craft transparent, Atlantic-influenced wines from old Albarino vines around the village of Cambados in Rias Baixas, in Spain's green north-west. Alberto first planted the vineyard around his farmhouse in 1993, and the couple formalised the project in 2015.
This Albarino is grown organically across parcels in the Salnes valley and made with a light hand: separate ferments with indigenous yeasts, restrained use of sulphur and bottling without clarification to preserve the wine's natural character. The result is a fresh, saline white with bright citrus and stone-fruit notes, a touch of orchard fruit and a cool coastal tang that reflects its seaside home.
Serve well chilled with oysters, grilled prawns, fresh fish or a plate of seafood tapas. It is a vibrant, food-friendly white made for the table.
