Luce della Vite is a Montalcino estate founded in 1993 as a visionary collaboration between Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, the result of a shared dream to create in Montalcino a wine that would go beyond the boundaries of tradition without denying it. The estate's name is a homage to the Montalcino sun that gives warmth, energy and life.
Luce is the estate's flagship wine, a Super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and Merlot drawn from the high-elevation slopes bordering Frescobaldi's Castelgiocondo. The 2020 offers layered complexity, with ripe dark fruit, spice, cocoa and balsamic nuances over fine, dense tannins and a long finish built for cellaring.
Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by extended maceration on the skins. The wine is aged in French oak barriques and rewards extended time in bottle, reflecting the estate's commitment to wines that transcend the boundaries of their own territory.
