Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is the Mâconnais project of Dominique Lafon, scion of the legendary Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault. Established in 1999, the estate now farms more than thirty hectares across the southern Burgundy villages of Milly-Lamartine, Uchizy and Bussières, all worked organically and biodynamically with native yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar.
The Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine bottling comes from clay-limestone soils on gentle hillside aspects, the village made famous as the birthplace of the poet Alphonse de Lamartine. Hand-harvested Chardonnay is whole-bunch pressed and aged in large older barrels, an approach that builds texture without leaving any obvious oak imprint.
The wine offers a precise nose of green apple, ripe pear, white peach and citrus zest, lifted by chalky mineral notes and gentle floral lift. Medium bodied and sleek on the palate, it shows fine grapefruit acidity, a touch of white pepper and a long, stony finish that nods clearly to its grander Côte d'Or relatives.
