Le Vigne di Eli is a tiny boutique estate on the northern slope of Mount Etna in Sicily, established in 2006 by Marco de Grazia, the founder of the iconic Tenuta delle Terre Nere. The project began when de Grazia was offered two small but exceptional parcels in the crus of Feudo di Mezzo and Moganazzi-Voltasciara, vineyards too modest in size to absorb into Terre Nere. He named the estate after his daughter Elena (Eli), whose drawings appear on the labels, and a substantial portion of the proceeds is donated to the Meyer Pediatric Hospital in Florence.
The Etna Bianco DOC is a Carricante-led white drawn from vineyards across the Etna appellation, with each slope contributing its own character to the blend. Expect aromas of orange blossom, lemon and white peach lifted by a clear volcanic minerality, leading into a saline, citrus-driven palate with white flowers, green apple and a long, taut finish. It is a fresh, versatile white that reflects the tension and energy of its high-altitude volcanic origins.
Grapes are grown on organically farmed vineyards in volcanic soils of ash, pumice and lava rock. Vinification takes place in stainless steel with cold maceration, followed by a period of refinement before bottling, preserving the wine's freshness and mineral drive.
