Kilchoman Loch Gruinart 700ml is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, originally released as a supermarket exclusive. It is a budget-friendly vatting of peated whiskies (50 PPM) aged 4 to 6 years in a combination of 90% bourbon barrels and 10% European oak sherry casks (Oloroso and PX).
Nose: Prominent bonfire smoke and sea spray, with secondary notes of buttery shortbread, vanilla, and soft citrus.
Palate: A mix of citrus sweetness, honey, and earthy peat. Reviewers on Dramface note a peppery spice and distinct oiliness.
Finish: Medium-long and drying, characterized by lingering smoke, salt water, and a touch of liquorice.
