Weingut Keller is one of Germany's greatest estates, and Abts E is one of its most refined dry Rieslings. The name refers to the Abtserde parcel within the Brunnenhauschen vineyard in Westhofen, a south-facing slope of limestone and clay that sits just above the celebrated Morstein site. Grosses Gewachs is Germany's classification for dry wines from the finest grand cru vineyards.
Less showy than Morstein or Hubacker but often even more precise, it offers lime zest, green apple and white peach with smoky, flinty minerality. The palate is subtle yet powerful, with a long, coiled, chalky finish that rewards patience.
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged on its lees, this is a Riesling built for the cellar.
