Domaine Joseph Colin is the personal estate of Joseph Colin, son of the renowned Marc Colin, who struck out on his own from 2017 with a small holding of vines across the Cote de Beaune. His winemaking is deliberately gentle: indigenous-yeast fermentation, ageing in mostly older barrels, and minimal handling so that each site shows its character clearly.
Le Trezin is one of the highest-altitude lieux-dits in Puligny-Montrachet, a cool, windy site of old vines on white clay and limestone soils. Made from Chardonnay, the wine reflects that elevation with energy and precision, showing aromas of peach, white flowers and a touch of buttery pastry over a fleshy yet saline palate. The finish is long and gently toasty, with a refreshing line of acidity holding everything together.
Serve well chilled with oysters and shellfish, grilled fish, roast chicken or soft, creamy cheeses.
