Joseph Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Hereditas 2024 750ml
Joseph Colin established his own domaine in 2017, peeling away a handful of hectares from the family estate at Saint-Aubin to focus on terroir-driven white Burgundy. The Chassagne-Montrachet "Hereditas" takes its name from the family roots that run through these vineyards, drawing on parcels of old Chardonnay vines planted in the classic clay and limestone soils of the appellation.
This is white Burgundy of poise and quiet concentration. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in seasoned oak, it carries lifted aromas of orchard fruit, citrus and almond, with a creamy yet precise palate. There is richness here, but it is held in check by a bright seam of acidity and a long, mineral finish that speaks of its village pedigree.
Serve lightly chilled alongside roast chicken, grilled white fish, creamy soft cheeses or dishes finished with butter and herbs. A few years in the cellar will reward the patient, allowing the wine to deepen and broaden.
