Domaine Joseph Colin is a young estate in Saint-Aubin, founded in 2017 when Joseph Colin, son of the celebrated Marc Colin, set out on his own with a small holding of vines spread across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. He works with a gentle, hands-off approach in the cellar, fermenting with indigenous yeasts and ageing the wines on their fine lees in barrel, with minimal intervention so the fruit and terroir speak clearly.
This Bourgogne Chardonnay, Les Hauts de la Combe, draws on vines sitting on the higher ground around Puligny-Montrachet and Chardonnay near Chassagne-Montrachet. It is fresh, elegant and approachable, balancing ripe orchard and citrus fruit with a mineral thread and a clean, refreshing length on the palate.
Serve well chilled as an aperitif or alongside seafood, grilled white fish, roast chicken or creamy soft cheeses.
