Joseph Colin is a son of the renowned Marc Colin and a respected name in the white-wine villages of Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, working from a small domaine centred on Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet. Batard-Montrachet is one of the great white Grand Crus of Burgundy, a wine of real pedigree that Colin produces from purchased fruit grown on the celebrated slope between Puligny and Chassagne.
Made entirely from Chardonnay and given Colin's pure, minimalist treatment, this is a white of grandeur and detail. Expect ripe orchard and citrus fruit, hints of white flowers and a creamy, layered texture, all underpinned by the firm mineral spine and length that define this hallowed terroir.
Serve at cellar temperature in a generous glass alongside lobster, turbot, poultry in rich sauces or aged hard cheeses. This is a wine to cellar with confidence, rewarding patience over many years.
