Glenmorangie Tusail Private Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The inception of Glenmorangie Distillery dates back to 1843, initiated by farmer William Matheson and his wife Anne. Despite its acquisition by MacDonald & Muir, prominent blenders, for a majority of the 20th century, the distillery primarily focused on single malt whisky. Becoming the distillery's primary production in 1959, the unique flavors procured from Scotland's smallest stills, along with their innovative use of wood finishing, have led to Glenmorangie's position as one of the leading malt sellers internationally. Consequently, the distillery's portfolio over the years has been extensive, with minimal allocation for independent bottlers.

The sixth release from Glenmorangie's Private Edition range is Tùsail. The malt utilized for this release is Maris Otter, a widely employed brewing malt, appreciated for its profound, rustic malty flavors. The moniker, Tùsail, is a term derived from Scots Gaelic, translating to 'originary', an older form of 'originating'.

The nose of this whisky is characterized by fruity notes (pears, peaches), maltiness, and a clear vanilla scent. The taste is described as a soft aromatic yet voluminous start, filled with liquid honey, tingling spice spreads, and spices, including vanilla and cinnamon. The finish is of medium length, sweet, with lingering tastes of cinnamon and vanilla, leaving a spicy aftertaste.
