Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo 'Monprivato' 2020 750ml

Monprivato is one of Barolo's most legendary single-vineyard wines, and the flagship bottling of Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio. The 6-hectare monopole sits on a southwest-facing slope in Castiglione Falletto at around 280m elevation, with white and grey marl soils rich in active limestone - classified among Barolo's historic greats since the 1600s.

A benchmark traditional Barolo of composure, perfume and length. Expect a garnet-hued wine with complex aromas of red cherry, rose petal, tar, orange peel, dried herbs and truffle, leading into a firmly structured, elegant palate with fine, sueded tannins and the remarkable aromatic nuance that Michét-clone Nebbiolo delivers from this terroir.

Hand-harvested, with traditional submerged-cap fermentation for around 30 days, then aged for around 30+ months in old Slavonian oak botti before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Built for the long haul.
