Coste di Rose is one of G.D. Vajra's distinctive single-vineyard Barolos, a sandy-soiled cru in the commune of Barolo itself. The Vaira family farms organically across some of the highest vineyards in the appellation, and this cuvée carries the estate's hallmark style: floral, transparent and quietly serious rather than overtly powerful.
The 2022 is fragrant and finely composed. Rose petals, crunchy red berries and dried flowers lead the nose, with a silky thread of spice. The palate is medium-bodied, with delicate, tender fruit framed by chalky, precise yet silky tannins, finishing long, mineral and quietly intense. Drinkable with proper aeration now, but with the structure to reward bottle age.
A wonderful pairing for truffle dishes, roast duck, slow-braised veal or aged Castelmagno.
