Domaine Rougeot is a small, family-run estate in the village of Meursault, in the Côte d'Or of Burgundy. Pierre-Henri Rougeot returned to the family domaine in 2010 and is the eighth generation of his family to make wine here, working from an 18th century stone cellar with around 13 hectares of vines in and around Meursault. The vineyards are farmed organically, and Pierre-Henri follows a minimal-sulphur, natural-leaning approach that stays grounded in traditional Burgundian technique.
This is the domaine's Bourgogne Pinot Noir, made entirely from Pinot Noir and the only blended red in the range, drawing fruit from the Lameroses and Vaux parcels. Expect a ruby-red wine with aromas of red cherry and wild strawberry, lifted by floral violet notes and a savoury hint of forest floor. The palate is juicy and energetic, with bright acidity carrying through to a mineral finish.
Like all the Pinot Noir at Rougeot, the fruit is vinified whole-cluster rather than de-stemmed, with native-yeast fermentation. The warmth and concentration of the 2022 vintage led Pierre-Henri to work with a shorter maceration. The wine is made with little to no added sulphur and is typically bottled unfined and unfiltered.
