A Flagship Chardonnay from Domaine Naturaliste, the Margaret River estate of winemaker Bruce Dukes in the Wilyabrup sub-region. 'Artus' is the estate's powerhouse, voluptuous expression of Margaret River Chardonnay - the counterpoint to its sister wine Purus - built on Gin Gin clone fruit grown in Karridale.
Expect a powerful, full-bodied Chardonnay with ripe yellow peach, lemon curd, grapefruit, crushed salted nuts, creamed-honey lees, toasty oak and flinty, funky sulphide complexity. The palate is lush and textural, framed by juicy, briny acidity and lush phenolics, giving a gymnast-like balance between richness and drive.
Wild-fermented with full malolactic fermentation, matured in around 40% new French oak with regular bâtonnage (lees stirring) every two weeks to build texture and complexity. Around 13% ABV.
