Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is a 12-hectare family estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, run today by Céline Fontaine-Gagnard alongside her husband Fred Robert (ex-Rousseau). The domaine has parcels across Chassagne, Volnay and Pommard, and while best known for great whites — including holdings in Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet — also produces a small range of red Burgundies in a classical, balanced style.
A regional Bourgogne Rouge, 100% Pinot Noir from the Côte de Beaune. Expect a fragrant, elegant young Burgundy with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and gentle spice, a supple palate and a long, fresh finish. A supremely drinkable introduction to the Fontaine-Gagnard red style.
Fermented on native yeasts and matured for around 18 months in French oak barrels sourced from the estate's rotating cooperage.
