Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is a 12-hectare estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, founded in 1985 by Laurence Gagnard and her husband Richard Fontaine. Their daughter Céline took over in 2007 and since 2018 has been joined by her husband Fred Robert (formerly of Domaine Armand Rousseau). The family holds vines in three grand crus — Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet.
A regional Bourgogne Blanc, 100% Chardonnay sourced from parcels across the Côte de Beaune. Expect a classically built white Burgundy with aromas of white flowers, lemon, green apple and a light note of toasted almond. The palate is fresh and elegant, with lifted acidity and a mineral finish — an approachable introduction to the Fontaine-Gagnard style.
Fermented spontaneously on native yeasts, then matured for around 12 months in French oak barrels sourced from the estate's own ageing rotation (barrels first used for higher cuvées, then coopered down for regional wines).
