From Domaine de la Vougeraie, the Boisset family's prestigious estate based in Premeaux-Prissey between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1999 to bring together the finest Burgundian vineyard holdings the Boisset group had acquired since 1964, the domaine today farms around 44 hectares spread across more than 30 appellations and is certified organic, with biodynamic principles applied throughout the vineyards.
A Grand Cru from Bonnes-Mares, the rectangular vineyard straddling the line between Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. The domaine farms a narrow strip of vines along the top of the slope, on clay-siliceous soils underpinned by limestone and white marl. 100% Pinot Noir. Expect a deeply structured, full-bodied wine of real intensity, layering floral notes (violet in particular), dark fruit and savoury woodland characters with very fine, age-worthy tannins.
Whole-bunch fermentation, aged in French oak barrels with a higher proportion of new wood befitting the Grand Cru, with light filtration before bottling.
