The 2016 Corton-Charlemagne from Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s great white Grand Cru sites on the hill of Corton. The wine opens with lifted aromas of green apple, pear, Meyer lemon and citrus peel, layered with subtle almond paste, fresh pastry and floral hints. On the palate it is medium- to full-bodied, precise and concentrated, with vibrant acidity framing flavours of lime, orchard fruit and crushed stone minerality. A delicate touch of oak adds notes of spice and hazelnut, while the texture remains elegant and finely structured. The finish is long and saline, showing both power and tension typical of top Corton-Charlemagne wines.
