Cardhu has long been known for its approachable, fruit-forward house style, and this 16 year old takes that signature in a richer, more adventurous direction.
The whisky is matured in refill and recharred American oak before being finished in casks that previously held Jamaican pot still rum. That rum-cask influence gives the malt a tropical lift and a creamy, full texture that sets it apart from the core range.
The nose is bright with sweet fruit: lemon zest and white grape giving way to pink grapefruit and ripe mango. The palate is creamy and generous, weaving rum toffee, spiced pineapple and green banana through soft spice and a crisp, drying oak finish.
