The Blankbottle Pinot Noir opens with ripe red berries, silky tannins, and a whisper of earthy spice—just enough to tease out the roasted richness of the hazelnuts in the Afrikoa slab. Meanwhile, the smooth milk chocolate finds a perfect counterbalance in the Pinot’s gentle acidity and fruit-forward charm. Each bite and sip enhances the other: the wine sharpens the chocolate’s nutty depth, while the chocolate softens and sweetens the wine’s savoury edges. Pieter Walser uses four clones from a single farm in Elgin to make this easy drinking, fruit forward Pinot Noir. Fifteen per cent whole bunches add a spicy top note here, complemented by 40% new barrels and tangy strawberry and raspberry coulis flavours.
