Basket Range Wine is a pioneer of the Adelaide Hills natural wine scene, farming an organic vineyard first planted in 1980 and now tended by winemaker Sholto Broderick. Banksia is a lighter, ethereal style of Pinot Noir, drawn largely from the estate's own fruit alongside a parcel from nearby Balhannah.
Matured in seasoned French barriques, it is delicate and finely perfumed. Expect aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry and dried rose petals, with bramble, clove spice and a wet-earth, forest-floor character. The palate is elegant and medium-bodied, with silky, fine-tea-like tannins, bright acidity and a long, plush finish.
A charming, beautifully drinkable Pinot, it loves a light chill and pairs well with charcuterie, duck, mushroom dishes and roast poultry.
