Barringwood is a cool-climate estate in Tasmania's central north, with its vineyard set on a steep, north-facing slope overlooking the Don Valley. The first vines at the original Lower Barrington site were planted in 1993 on the grounds of a working sawmill, and the estate has since built a strong reputation for elegant, savoury Tasmanian Pinot Noir.
The fruit is destemmed into open-top fermenters and given a cold soak before fermentation, then matured in French barriques with a modest portion of new oak so the fruit and site remain at the forefront.
Expect aromas of dark cherry and fresh strawberry with hints of rhubarb, anise and clove, followed by a medium-bodied palate of bright red fruit, earthy spice and a distinctly savoury character. It is a vibrant, food-friendly Pinot Noir that pairs beautifully with duck or mushroom dishes.
Vintages may vary. Email us at hello@barrelandbatch.com.au if you would like confirmation.
