Ngeringa is one of Australia's most committed biodynamic farms, an Adelaide Hills property of around 75 hectares run by Erinn and Janet Klein, where vines share the land with olives, orchards, vegetables and livestock. The ground has been certified biodynamic since 1993 and the first vines went in during 2001.
Ngeringa means place of sheoak, and the sheoak inside the circle on the label gives this range its name. These are the more playful, immediate wines in the portfolio, farmed and made with the same care as the single vineyard bottlings but designed to be opened young.
The Pinot Noir is light on its feet and full of charm, with bright red cherry and berry fruit, a touch of spice and soft, supple tannins running to a fresh finish. Serve it lightly chilled with charcuterie, roast chicken, salmon or a mushroom risotto.
