From Domaine Alvina Pernot, founded in 2018 by Alvina Pernot and her husband Philippe Abadie in Puligny-Montrachet at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Alvina is the granddaughter of the celebrated Paul Pernot, and after years working at the family domaine she struck out with her own project, sourcing exclusively white Burgundy from a mix of estate parcels and family-grown fruit. The wines are now made in the couple's own gravity-fed cellar in the village.
A regional Bourgogne Côte d'Or from the Les Femelottes lieu-dit, made entirely from Chardonnay. The style sits firmly in the Pernot signature of taut, mineral white Burgundy, with citrus, white orchard fruit and a chalky, saline thread running through a fine-boned palate.
Vineyards are farmed sustainably with light ploughing, no chemical sprays, and ongoing biodynamic trials. Grapes are hand-picked, carefully sorted and pressed in pneumatic or vertical presses depending on the cuvée, with native yeast fermentation and ageing in oak for up to 11 months. Use of new oak is kept low so that terroir, rather than wood, drives the wine.
