Yarra Yering's Dry Red No. 3 is one of the most distinctive reds in the Yarra Valley - a field blend of classic Portuguese varieties planted at the estate in 1990 on a rocky, terraced hillside. The blend typically features Touriga Nacional alongside Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Alvarelhão and Sousão.
Expect a lifted, complex bouquet of satsuma plum, lavender, summer berries, cherry, licorice spice and bay leaf, driven by the floral fragrance of Touriga Nacional and tightened by the acidity of Sousão. The palate is concentrated and flavoursome but balanced, with persistent, subtle tannins that reward cellaring.
Hand-picked, destemmed and foot-trodden in the traditional Portuguese lagar style for the first working of the must, followed by careful extraction during fermentation. Matured in old oak barrels for around 10 months before bottling.
