Fruit for the STH (south) is sourced from two sites: Kinvarra (70%) in the Derwent Valley and Brinktop (30%) in the Coal River Valley. This is usually the darkest-fruited of the subregional releases, driven by Kinvarra Vineyard’s mature vines and the local black clay and hard, rocky soils. Like last year, however, the 2024 has a distinct floral prettiness to complement the powerful flavour and structural profile. The fruit fermented in open-top vessels with 15% whole bunches. The wine matured for 10 months in barriques, 10% of which were new.
