A special treat from the ampersand gang, this edition of Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire spent 12 years maturing, including a finish in a single tokaji wine cask. Tokaji is a Hungarian dessert wine, and this Islay single malt has taken on plenty of sweet, decadent character to accompany the rich peat smoke and coastal salinity at its heart.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Toasted marshmallows, Fig Rolls, cinder toffee, and set heather honey lead the way before a coastal saltiness arrives alongside juicy barley, sultanas, the burnt ends of a fruit cake, and sweet peat smoke.
Palate Robust oak, tinned peaches, candied pineapple, and big, hearty helpings of smoke join vanilla cream, salted caramel, and scorched toffee.
Finish Cracked peppercorn and chilli flake warmth mellow off with notes of candied bacon, honeyed prunes, brandy snaps, smoked tea, rich peat, and tobacco.
