Samuel's Gorge is a small McLaren Vale winery established in 2003 by winemaker Justin McNamee. The winery and cellar door sit in an 1853 farm shed atop a ridge overlooking the Onkaparinga River National Park to the north and the ocean to the south. The focus is on five key varietals: Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Graciano and Tempranillo.
The Samuel's Gorge McLaren Vale Grenache 2023 is a vibrant, fragrant expression of the variety from one of Australia's prime Grenache regions. It shows bright red and dark berry fruit, floral lift and a silky, aromatic texture that reflects the estate's Old World reference points for complexity and harmony.
Grapes are sourced from some of McLaren Vale's most respected growers. The wines are crafted by hand with indigenous yeasts and long, slow ferments, basket-pressed and vinified in the outdoor winery under a lean-to. The result is a distinctly Australian Grenache with a rustic charm and detailed, textural drive.
