Domaine Saint Damien is based in the southern Rhône village of Gigondas, where the Saurel family has farmed vines for several generations. Their Côtes du Rhône Villages cuvée draws on parcels at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, where stony, sun-drenched soils give classic warm-climate ripeness and aromatic lift.
This is a generous, approachable expression of the southern Rhône built around Grenache, with supporting roles for Syrah and Mourvèdre. Expect ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, lifted by garrigue herbs, black olive, cracked pepper and a hint of liquorice. The palate is supple and rounded, with soft tannins and a savoury, peppery finish.
A natural partner for grilled lamb, slow-cooked ratatouille, herbed sausages or any Mediterranean-leaning weeknight dinner.
