Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao is a French orange liqueur created by cognac house Pierre Ferrand and cocktail historian David Wondrich, built from a nineteenth-century recipe for the classic curaçao style. It blends curaçao orange peels with a base that includes cognac and brandy, along with cane spirit and a touch of spice, then rests in oak, giving it a depth and dryness rarely found in everyday orange liqueurs.
The nose offers bitter orange peel and candied citrus zest, with orange blossom, light spice and gentle toasted oak. On the palate it is drier and more layered than typical orange liqueurs, with dry orange zest, candied citrus and a brandy-like richness, threaded with hints of almond, vanilla and warm baking spices such as cinnamon, ginger and clove. The finish is clean, citrus-driven and lightly warming with a crisp edge.
Less sweet and syrupy than many alternatives, it is a versatile bartender's staple that brings genuine complexity to classics such as the Margarita, Sidecar, Mai Tai and a wide range of punches and tiki drinks.
